OCY is focused on cultivating relationships and providing support to those who minister to young people in the parish communities within the Archdiocese of Toronto.
Forming youth and young adults into Christian leaders who come to know Christ, deepen their relationship with Him, and are transformed into one of His faith-filled disciples – evangelize, gather, catechize, and send forth.
AREAS OF FOCUS
Youth (ages 11-17) – Tweens and Teens
Young Adults (ages 18-35) – Students and Young Professionals
To provide consulting, training, and resources to start-up and sustain strong parish youth ministry at the parish level, and young adult ministry at the parish and local level (region, zone, local area).
Forming secondary partnerships (school boards, lay associations, etc.) and running programs (i.e. Totus Tuus, conferences, retreats, etc.) to help bolster the youth and young adult ministries at the parish/local levels by bringing in focused, energetic evangelization efforts.
Within the Archdiocese of Toronto, you will find a family of faith that is alive and at work in our community. Comprised of nearly 1.9 million Catholics, 225 parishes and 4 missions, the Archdiocese is led by His Eminence, Thomas Cardinal Collins, and assisted by Auxiliary Bishops, Most Reverend John A. Boissonneau, Most Reverend Wayne Kirkpatrick, Most Reverend William McGrattan and Most Reverend Vincent Nguyen. Auxiliary Bishop, Most Reverend Pearse Lacey retired in 1993.
First separated from the Archdiocese of Kingston, the Diocese of Toronto was erected on December 17, 1841. Less than 30 years later, after rapid expansion, on March 18, 1870, the Diocese became the Archdiocese of Toronto.
As a family of faith, we celebrate Mass for 36 ethnic and linguistic communities every week making the Archdiocese of Toronto one of the most ethnically diverse Catholic dioceses in the world. Together with our clergy, parishes, volunteers, Archdiocesan employees and the entire Catholic community, we are a family living out our faith, ready to act, serve and grow together in God’s love.
